Well, sometimes things don’t always go just as planned. But by jingo, that just means it’s time to turn your apples into apple butter, right? By jingo!
Our “plan” was to release Dead Air Fresheners new album “Moon”, a collaboration with noted P-town author (and vocalist) Jennifer Robin in time for their record release party Saturday, March 1 at McCoy’s Tavern right here in Olytown. T’ain’t gonna happen and the Fresheners have pushed the release date to April Fools Day. The McCoy’s show is still quite happening (sans Jennifer) and I expect each and everyone of you to be there. Attendance will be taken, honest!

Next up, Thursday March 6, Reverend Al Bloch, a man with five recent GMR releases and a shitpile more on No Threes since, is coming to town with pyrobotic guitar monster brother Kurt plus longtime pal (and) killerly drum thumper Richard Stuverud. I saw Bad Scene a year ago and they kicked total ass. 100%. They had two releases in my KAOS FreeFormNW top 10 last year. To skin it even more ridiculously, they will be playing three shows, including one in Oly at McCoys. I personally recommend attending all three.

When the Dead Air Fresheners did not happen for March, so we figured why waste a month. Time for yet another classic Oly Jazz release. This month we bring you Bert Wilson and Rebirth – “Further Adventures in Jazz” from 1992. This album is basically an augmented five piece groovin’ hard with chops galore. Much more in a mainstream mode than some of Bert’s avant outings with Jeffrey Morgan like Magnetic Fields, it is still a chops-laden tour de force and worthy of your attention. I have been listening as I write this and I say big thumbs up!
Ps. Do not fail to note the band in the control room of the alto sax space ship on the cover!
That will hold ya ‘til next month – see ye at McCoy’s!
