Making Noise is Kaz Murphy’s fifth studio release. With all basic tracks and lead vocals recorded live, these 10 songs of rebellion and redemption fall somewhere between the cynical sting of Phil Ochs and the everyman forthrightness of Woody Guthrie. Topical but never literal, reactive and metaphorical, Making Noise faces straight on the alarming and dangerous hard times facing the USA today. Award-winning Americana songwriter Kaz Murphy’s fourth solo CD, “Ride Out the Storm,” reached #1 on the Roots Music Report True Country Album Chart. This collection of originals was produced by Scrappy Jud Newcomb (Slaid Cleaves, Patty Griffin), who was drawn to Murphy’s storytelling and melodies. The album showcases a Tex-Mex influence that reflects Murphy’s decade in Santa Fe and Austin. Based in Joshua Tree, CA, Murphy tours internationally while his instrumental work is featured in film and television.

A friend challenged me to write a love song to the swing states, because of all the wrath they get for voting Trump and being MAGA.
