Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls abounding!
First off, thanks to everyone who came to the Olympia Ballroom release show. It was a smashing success and two tons of fun!
It is now exactly two days before the final leg of The True Olympians extensive 4-stop PNW tour, at The Royal Room in Seattle (5000 Rainier Ave S.) this Friday, December 30 (7:30pm).
As Bob Dylan once said, things have changed! Excellent GMR stars The OF has had to cancel due to health issues and well as tramatic Eastern Washington weather. Oh, the times we live in!
At the last minute, Seattle veterans Student Nurse have agreed to take their place on the bill. A super duper new devleopment and a great opportunity for you all!
In case you are not that familar, Student Nurse was a late 70’s/early ’80’s Seattle band on the leading edge of the whole DYI thing that happend in Seattle back then, with three vinyl releases (you can get their debut single on DISCOGS for $169). I played a few shows with them back in the 80’s at dinky clubs when I was in The Adults/Colorplates.
Now Student Nurse is back at it, having just released a 28-song retrospective THINK FOR YOURSELF: SEATTLE TOUR 1979-1984 | Student Nurse (bandcamp.com). I saw their first reunion show at Georgetown Records a few months ago and had a mighty fine time.
Their album is featured today at 1:00pm on my FreeForm NW radio show Top 10 of 2022 – as well as making best of 2022 on Brian Foss’s on KEXP’s Sonic Reducer show.
Yes, you want this.
