Von Cube is a two-man army, comprised of Grady Eddins and Nick Hagen. They are old school Seattle Rock. They started playing together in 1979, well before the grunge. Grady on strings, Nick on skins. Now, after recording for the last twenty years, they have released their public debut single. Two Songs Live. One guitar, one octave pedal, singing and drums. Recorded live. No overdubs. Relentless. Old enough to know better, but that just don’t matter.
Two Songs Live. The nearly philosophical rockabillyism of “With A Drink In My Hand” and the surf-tastic “Devil Girl From Mars.” Grady likes to think in twos.
The backstory? Grady arrives in Seatown from notorious hippy-town Eugene, Oregon in ’79. Meets Seattle-born Nick and their run begins. They almost get signed to Capitol Records, they record some unfinished tracks in a fancy downtown studio with Steve “Space Cowboy” Miller, Capitol gets a new president, Grady and Nick get dumped. Life goes on. They play live together in a variety of combos for the next 20 years. They then pull the plug and that stops. They keep recording. A bunch of private releases follow, heard by friends and family, but the world remains woefully uninformed. Sad.
2023, it is a new day. GMR agrees to release Von Cube to the world. The first is the unyielding Two Songs Live. More to come, children.

All Is Well
Album, 07 Aug 2026Von Cube is back atcha with one of their most pop-tastic charmers eva’. Was Grady most lovin’ the Fabs or 1969 Steve Miller? You decide. Johnny Was A Pimp (single)
Single, 07 Aug 2026All true VC fans will recall the jazz-tinged version of “Jonny” from the Non Dairy Creamer EP. As lovely as that was, Grady has taken it a step further, in fact right over the cliff, with this brilliantly orchestrated “Jonny”, arranged and produced by local musical genius and long-time Von Cube pal Brian Hutchison. Imagine you are in a darkened theater with the screen credits rolling. Your popcorn is cold and stale. It is time to go. Beautiful.

Live Session
Album, 01 Jan 2026Grady sez: Nick and I played this show in 2016 (I think) at Arcade Digital Studios in Tumwater, where Nick and I recorded a ton of stuff. Bruce Whitcomb (owner and proprietor) and our old pal Steffi Eubanks would feature a different band every couple of weeks or so for their radio show, The Best Damn Music Show In Olympia, and for some reason they called me. Nick and I hadn’t played live for a couple of years due to the death of our bass player and brother Tony Martinello, but we decided, let’s do this thing as a 2 piece, in honor of Tony. There it is!

Music Inspired By The Ghost and Mr. Chicken (single)
Single, 04 Oct 2024October = Helloween = Von Cube. Inspired by the “horrifying” music of the Don Knotts classic, “The Ghost and Mr. Chicken”, Grady and Nick put down their usual two-man-army spank. Incorporating the descending guitar lick from Tom Dyer’s “Variations on a Theme by Buck Dharma” (which those Cubists almost certainly have never heard) which is a direct quote from the very first notes of “Transmaniacon MC”, from the very first (self-titled) album by the mighty Blue Oyster Cult, which, we at last know, is the illegitimate stepchild of Don Knots. So much paternity! Download your copy and start handing out the candy!

Dance Party with Von Cube
Album, 04 Jan 2024Green Monkey Records 1st release of 2024 from the indomitable Grady Eddins of Von Cube. Yet another slab o’ naughty guitar wranglin’ recorded in Tumwater, WA at some mysterious juncture in the glass-fogged past. While most Von Cube is recorded pretty live, I’m pretty sure Grady overdubbed that bass. I won’t tell if you don’t. And of course, Nick is Nick, god-dammit! Now get to dancin’!

- What Does She Do?
- So Long TM
- Things Are Different Now

One For The Money
Album, 10 Mar 2023Time for the second installment of the beast we call Von Cube. Today we release to the unsuspecting universe “One For The Money”, recorded in 2018, pressed and hidden in the back corner of the closet ever since. This is a beautiful and sophisticated bunch of smashing around by Grady and Nick, or, as you might say, more of the same. What’s not to like? In case you forgot, we released their first GMR single a couple months agos ago and it is pretty ripping fine as well.
