Sept. 2026: The Purdins – 2nd Greatest Hits

Hey boys and girls –
It’s September. The kids are back in school and The Purdins’ 2nd Greatest Hits is out. You want it. And it’s Bandcamp Friday, where the bands get all the dough from your purchases – thank you!

If you want to know all about Those Purdins, going back to 1989, you should read the thing I wrote last week on my new substack gizmo  I love The Purdins (and you should too)!

For those that prefer fewer words,  just know this: October 17th, The Purdins will be playing at Slim’s Last Chance with Dick Rossetti-Bulk Male and The Daffodahlias. There is a reasonable likelihood these very Purdins will be soon playing at Easy Street Records in West Seattle. Date TBA. Soonish. You can get their LP, their CD, or their groovy t-shirts right now on the Green Monkey Records Bandcamp page  Or in fine record stores like Easy Street, Silver Platters and Sonic Boom. If your local record store doesn’t have it, tell them to get it from Burnside Distribution right away.

Next up: folking Kaz Murphy just dropped yet another single today “Old Protest Records”. His Making Noise album is going to hit the street September 18th, but you can pre-order it right now – it’s a damn miricle.

The official scoop from his PR dude:

Making Noise is Kaz Murphy’s fifth studio release.  With all basic tracks and lead vocals recorded live, these 10 songs of rebellion and redemption fall somewhere between the cynical sting of Phil Ochs and the everyman forthrightness of Woody Guthrie.  Topical but never literal, reactive and metaphorical, Making Noise faces straight on the alarming and dangerous hard times facing the USA today.

Award-winning Americana songwriter Kaz Murphy’s fourth solo CD, Ride Out the Storm, reached #1 on the Roots Music Report True Country Album Chart.  This collection of originals was produced by Scrappy Jud Newcomb (Slaid Cleaves, Patty Griffin), who was drawn to Murphy’s storytelling and melodies. The album showcases a Tex-Mex influence that reflects Murphy’s decade in Santa Fe and Austin.   Based in Joshua Tree, CA, Murphy tours internationally while his instrumental work is featured in film and television.

Coming soon: Pop Star Devils – my new electro-pop-smash duo (is it a trio?) with Mr. Michael Stein (The Accident, The Holidays, The True Olympians) including a thumping re-mix from Smoke M2D6.  I have a pile of contenders jostling for position to be released for next month but we shall just see what actually makes it to the Rocktober finish line.

And yes, Virginia, the Jolly songs for this year’s Christmas album have already started appearing in my inbox. Gonna happen.

Work continues on revamping the Green  Monkey website. Every artist we have released since 2009 now has a page thanks to Mr. Keith Livingston.

See ya next month.
